• Invented, tested, and helped manufacture an extremely reliable pyrotechnic disconnect for end of life balloon operation.
• Desgin challenges included large CTE changes, robustness to manufacturing variation, and high shock load cases, all applied at the end of balloon life.
• To date the device has zero failures after extensive use in production.
